Michael Moebes

Michael Moebes began his professional career as a client representative with IBM before resigning to attend law school at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He spent three years representing employers and insurers at the insurance defense law firm of Drew, Eckl & Farnham in midtown Atlanta before joining the legal team at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for two years.

These five years taught him exactly how insurers evaluate injury claims in terms of validity and financial exposure, providing him with a “behind-the-curtain” look at the nuances of practicing injury law throughout the state of Georgia.

Legal Advocacy & Leadership

In 2009, Michael started Moebes Law LLC and has passionately represented the injured ever since. He has recovered millions of dollars and won countless medical procedures in the course of his representation of injured workers, riders, and veterans. Understanding that legal crises and injuries don’t follow a standard schedule, Michael maintains an open-door philosophy for his clients that extends well beyond the typical 9 to 5; he is often available from 9 to 7 or even 24/7 when an urgent need arises.

Michael has been named a “Rising Star” and a “Super Lawyer” by the Georgia Super Lawyers organization, an honor reserved for the top 2.5% of attorneys in their field. A frequent speaker, he has lectured at the Georgia Trial Lawyers annual convention and Georgia State University College of Law. In 2013, he was featured in the companion guide to “Solo By Choice,” a definitive resource for starting a law firm.

Military Service

When not practicing law, Lieutenant Colonel Moebes served as a Medical Service Corps officer with the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 23 years before retiring in 2020. He deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom: twice to Balad Air Base, Iraq, and once to Andrews AFB, Maryland.

During his decorated service, he facilitated the aeromedical evacuation of thousands of wounded warriors and participated in the Jessica Lynch rescue mission in 2003. His experiences were featured in the Daily Report, and his three-part “Iraq Diary” article earned national recognition.

Community & Personal Life

Outside of the office and his military service, Michael is an avid traveler and motorcyclist. You’ll often find him:

• Exploring U.S. National Parks and UNESCO World Heritage Sites with his family.
• Riding with the American Legion Riders, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, or local HOG and BMW groups.

Deeply committed to his fellow service members, Michael is an annual sponsor for the US Veterans MC in North Georgia and provides yearly support for the Hero Hill Climb for Mission 22 and the Fallen Heroes Dice Run with the CVMA. When he isn’t volunteering, you’ll find him exploring U.S. National Parks or riding with the American Legion Riders, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, or local HOG and BMW groups.

Michael and his family are active members of Buckhead Church and support local charities including Wellspring Living, the Sandy Springs Conservancy, and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). He serves as Treasurer of the Board for Act 3 Theater in Sandy Springs and Secretary for the Sandy Springs Bar Association. He is also a graduate and Ambassador of Leadership Sandy Springs.
