Maxwell C. Agha brings the National Academy of Motorcycle Injury Lawyers more than three decades of hard-fought advocacy for injured Californians. As principal, founder, and guiding force behind Banker’s Hill Law Firm, A.P.C. in San Diego, he has spent his career fighting for victims of personal and work-related injuries, recovering millions in settlements and litigation across California’s state and federal courts. When a rider is hurt and facing insurance companies alone, Maxwell is the kind of attorney they want in their corner.
His path to personal injury law was shaped by hands-on experience at every level of the legal system. An honors graduate of Seattle Pacific University, Maxwell earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he competed in moot court competitions and lent his voice to the school newspaper. His appetite for legal research led him to a judicial clerkship in the California Superior Court, where he conducted meticulous research, drafted compelling briefs, and authored bench memoranda for judges, work that gave him a deep reservoir of practical knowledge before he ever tried a case of his own.
After earning his degree, Maxwell took his talents to a civil litigation firm specializing in personal injury, then stepped into a significant role under the office of the Chief Prosecutor of the United States for the Southern District of California, part of the U.S. Department of Justice. There he handled everything from civil disputes to federal criminal matters, an experience that broadened his perspective and set the groundwork for the practice he leads today. He is also an alumnus of the Lanier Trial Academy, where he sharpened his courtroom skills alongside legendary trial lawyer Mark Lanier.
At the heart of Maxwell’s work is a simple conviction: his clients deserve someone who will not just represent them, but fight for them. That belief makes him a natural fit for NAMIL’s mission of protecting riders and elevating the attorneys who serve them. Through the Mastermind program, Maxwell collaborates with motorcycle injury lawyers across the country, trading strategies and resources that help him sign and win more high-value cases while strengthening the support his firm offers riders throughout Southern California.
That commitment has earned significant recognition. Maxwell has been named among the Top 100 National Trial Lawyers and has garnered national attention for his legal work, including appearances on CourtTV discussing his handling of catastrophic personal injury cases. Beyond the courtroom, he volunteers as an arbitrator for the San Diego County Bar Association, mediating fee disputes between lawyers and clients, and holds memberships spanning the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Consumer Attorneys, and numerous local and national organizations, reflecting a career grounded in service and professional excellence.
Maxwell is a family man at heart. He is an avid reader, enjoys soccer, and shares long walks with his wife. The proud father of two Afro-Latina daughters, he treasures time spent with his family, including their beloved dog, Maui. A generous contributor to civic and nonprofit organizations across California, Maxwell embodies the belief that a great attorney is also a pillar of the community, a spirit that aligns closely with NAMIL’s values of collaboration, advocacy, and giving back to the rider community.
