Dana Brooks

Dana Brooks brings a rare, hard-won perspective to personal injury and medical malpractice advocacy. As a Managing Shareholder of Fasig | Brooks, with offices across North Florida, South Georgia and South Alabama, Dana has spent her career standing up for people whose lives were upended by someone else’s negligence. Her clients want the matter handled, and Dana gives them the closest thing to a peaceful resolution: the best and fastest outcome possible with the least intrusion into their lives.

What sets Dana apart is a working knowledge of how the defense builds its case. Before she became a trial lawyer for injured Floridians, she earned a reputation as a medical malpractice defense paralegal, learning firsthand how insurers and defense teams evaluate, challenge, and try to minimize a claim. That experience now works for her clients, not against them.

Her path to advocacy was anything but conventional. Dana worked as a paralegal, law firm administrator, clinical social worker, and Florida Supreme Court certified family law mediator before entering the courtroom herself. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, cum laude, and a Master of Social Work from Florida State University, where a career built around helping at-risk and vulnerable people took root. That grounding shapes how she advocates for injured clients today, with a genuine respect for the worry and vulnerability every one of them carries through her door.

Dana earned her law degree from Florida State, magna cum laude, in December 2007, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif, an honor reserved for the top ten percent of law school graduates. Her academic record and her standing as a defense paralegal opened a rare door. She was sworn in as an attorney one morning and made a named partner of an established, three-decade-old plaintiff’s firm that same afternoon.

A recognized leader in the legal community, Dana is past president of the Capital City Justice Association and a current member of the Florida Bar, Tallahassee Women Lawyers, Tallahassee Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, and was proud to help launch the Society of Women Trial Lawyers. Dana currently serves on the Advisory and Philanthropy Board of Legal Services of North Florida.

She is also a frequent voice in legal education, serving as a recurring guest lecturer on tort practice at the Florida State University College of Law and presenting regularly for the Florida Justice Association on medical malpractice statutes, case law, and litigation strategy.

Named to the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers, recognized as a Florida Legal Elite by Florida Trend, and admitted to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Dana also holds a 10.0 rating on Avvo, the highest available. Her alma mater has honored her with both the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from the FSU College of Social Work and the Alumni Service Award from the FSU College of Law.

Beyond the courtroom, she has hosted various radio and television shows and currently hosts “Direct with Dana,” a weekly radio show and podcast show featuring thought leaders in the community. Dana writes frequently for local publications and her columns have been featured in the Tallahassee Democrat, Tallahassee Woman Magazine, and Tallahassee Reports.

Across every role she takes on, in the courtroom, the classroom, and the community, Dana carries the same instinct that first drew her to social work: helping people find their footing again after the hardest days of their lives.
